Quality care in homely surroundings
Newlands Care Home is a gracious Victorian house that has been extended and converted to provide residential care. Run by Nikki and her husband Trevor since 2013, Newlands is a family-run home where a hands-on approach helps create a warm, welcoming atmosphere for everyone who lives here.
Newlands is located in the City of Dunfermline, Scotland’s ancient capital, with many local amenities easily accessible from the home.
We understand that the decision to move into a care home can be a very difficult one, not just for the resident, but for their family too. At Newlands, we support the whole family through this transition, recognising the emotional impact it can have on everyone involved.
Many relatives and friends take on a caring role for years before considering residential care, and we know how daunting and upsetting this stage can be. Our aim is to allow residents and their loved ones to return to simply being family and friends, while we take over the responsibility of care.
At Newlands, we provide a safe, friendly environment where trained staff are available 24 hours a day to support residents to live an enjoyable and meaningful life within a community, while always maintaining independence, dignity, and respect.
If you feel that Newlands could be the right new home for you or your loved one, we would be very happy to hear from you. You are always welcome to get in touch or come and visit us to meet our staff and residents, and to see the quality of care and accommodation for yourself.
We understand that choosing a care home can bring many emotions, and we are always happy to answer questions, however big or small.

I have been a resident at Newlañds since June 2024 when I decided to come here after almost ten years living on my own after my wife's demise. I was doing a pretty good job of it until I was hit with a series of minor illnesses requiring hospitalisation. I decided that a care home was the answer, and eventually decided on Newlañds after viewing several homes. I also had the advantage of having volunteered in several care homes, hospices and University medical schools for twenty years, so I reckon I had a wealth of experience to call on. My initial feeling about Newlañds was quickly vindicated. The work ethic there was top- drawer, and the staff from management down were of the highest calibre and truly caring. I would have no qualms about recommending this home to anyone thinking about plaçing a loved one in a care home.

My 96 year old Mum moved to Newlands almost 7 months ago. The love and care she receives from Nikki, Karen and every member of staff has been life changing for both Mum and me. I trust them 100% to look after Mum's health, both physical and mental. They really are a big happy family and a pleasure for family members to visit. Anyone seeking full time care for a loved one should look no further than Newlands; they are angels.

My mum, who was a resident at Newlands for 18 months, sadly passed away recently. The past 18 months have been a godsend for our family, especially my mum. From the minute we walked in to see if she would like it, she absolutely loved it. It’s set in a charming Victorian House with fireplaces and wallpaper, which for mum, was perfect. The retirement capacity is smaller than I’d expected so offers more opportunity for meaningful friendships amongst the residents. Based around a tv lounge and a separate dining room with 2 smaller lounges and a Wellbeing Hub. All rooms are warm and welcoming, with plenty of cosy covers, footstools and all standing/walking aids as you’d expect. Mum loved the daily activities that were planned to align with mental, physical, artistic, memory and social wellbeing platforms. From ‘around the world’ experiences including different languages, food and culture; quizzes; visits from therapy dogs and ponies to singalongs every few weeks with musical instruments to play and a singer. All occasions were celebrated with a huge amount of effort from the team. But the most important element to Newlands is the staff - all of them. Mum absolutely loved each and every member of staff. The care she felt every day was lovely to see. Our family felt like we were part of a larger family with the staff, residents and their families. We were warmly welcomed at each and every visit. They made such a fuss of mum when I got married and she was unable to physically come to the wedding and we video called her into the ceremony. The team dressed her up, did her hair and nails, bought her a ‘Mother of the Bride’ sash - she loved it. She loved it so much, it was one of the final beautiful memories she mentioned in her final hours. I can’t think of anything that I will treasure and appreciate more. Thank you so much to everyone at Newlands that had any part in Mum’s life there. X
